Sultan set to get PCB job

By Our Sports Reporter

LAHORE, Jan 8: Sultan Rana, the former first-class player, is likely to be appointed Director Cricket Operations Domestic as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to separate its domestic affairs from the international ones.

Sultan who is currently working with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, has good experience of Pakistan domestic cricket even though he failed to get a Test cap throughout his playing career. He has only two month’s assignment left with the ACC after which he will join the PCB. But the domestic season will have almost completed by then.

Sultan will be the fourth member of the Rana family to be working with the PCB at the same time. Presently his elder brother Shafqat Rana is a member of the first paid national selection committee while younger brother Azmat Rana is affiliated with the PCB talent hunt programme.

Sultan’s nephew Mansoor Rana, who also happens to be the former late Test umpire Shakoor Rana’s son, coaches the national Junior team.

Meanwhile, Zakir Khan will continue to run international cricket affairs.
