7 security forces men kidnapped in Darra

By Abdul Sami Paracha

KOHAT, Jan 8: Suspected militants kidnapped seven security forces personnel from a hotel in Darra Adamkhel, a Frontier Region of Kohat, an official told Dawn on Tuesday.

Two army men and five paramilitary personnel were going to Peshawar from Kohat on Monday. The official said the soldiers stopped near the Abbas Square interchange for a lunch when 20 to 25 militants kidnapped them at gunpoint.

The men were whisked away to an unknown destination. The political administration was making efforts for their safe recovery.

Four military officials, including two captains and two junior commissioned officers, went missing between Darra Adamkhel and Mattani area of Peshawar 20 days ago.

Authorities have failed to find their whereabouts and neither Taliban militants nor professional kidnappers have claimed responsibility for their Kidnapping.

The official said there was no plan to conduct operation for the recovery of military officials and against the local Taliban involved in terrorist activities for the past one year in the area.
