Rawalpindi bar determined to ‘restore rule of law’

RAWALPINDI, Jan 8: The newly elected office-bearers of the Rawalpindi Bar Association vowed here on Monday to continue the struggle for the restoration of judiciary, rule of law and the release of lawyers’ leaders.

Speaking at the general body meeting of the lawyers, President of the bar Sardar Tariq said the legal community would continue its movement for establishing the supremacy of the constitution in the country.

He said a joint session of all the district bars of Pindi Division would be called to draw a new strategy about the on- going struggle, after the elections in these bars were completed.

Talking to Dawn, he said local administration would not be contacted for the peaceful protest as, he said, it was the fundamental right of every citizen.

The bar also condemned the statements of the American presidential candidates about attacking Al-Qaida leaders within the territory of Pakistan and taking over its nuclear assets by the US and British agencies. It also asked the government to take serious notice of the statements and ensure that no one dared any adventure in Pakistan.— A Reporter
