PESHAWAR, Jan 8: Chairman of his own faction of Pakistan People’s Party Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has said that the PPP-S is sincerely working for the cause of the Pukhtuns and it will adopt effective measures for their welfare.

Speaking to the party’s office-bearers of Charsadda, Tangi and Shabqadar here on Tuesday,

Mr Sherpao said the PPP-S had focused its manifesto on the real issues concerning the Pukhtuns.

He said the party would endeavour for the establishment of a just and egalitarian society by expanding the sources of income and its utilisation in an equitable manner.

He said economic disparity and a flawed financial management system had multiplied socio-economic problems.

He criticised the Awami National Party saying that it lacked a political programme. He said the ANP had always raised slogans for the rights of the Pukhtuns during elections but ignored them later.

He expressed concern over shortage of flour and load-shedding and said the problems were causing unrest among the people.

Mr Sherpao asked the government to adopt timely measures to overcome the problems and provide relief to the masses.
