Two Buner shops destroyed in blast

BUNER, Jan 8: Two shops were destroyed when an explosive device planted in a market dealing in ladeis’ items went off in the Shalbandi Sharif village here on Tuesday morning.

However, no casualty was reported as no one was around at the time of the explosion, officials said.

This was the 13th bomb blast in the Buner district and the first one targeting a women’s shopping market.

Soon after the incident, District Police Officer Abdul Ghaffor Khan Afridi urged tribal people at a jurga to help police in tracing out saboteurs who were behind the bomb blasts in the district.

Addressing the jirga of elders drawn from various communities at the Pir Baba police station on Tuesday, the district police officer said that the department had been making strenous efforts to arrest those behind these acts of terror.

He emphasized the need for public cooperation in finding the cuprits and assurd the jirga that the name of informer would be kept secret.

The DPO said that police could extend their scope of investigation to the entire district, but it would create problems for people.

The jirga members assured the DPOe of their full cooperation and callled for early arrest of those behind the explosions.

The meeting decided to constitute a committee of notables which would coordinate with the police deprtment. Sub-committees at the village level were also planned.
