Hissam steals limelight in Polo Cup

By Our Sports Reporter

LAHORE, Jan 7: Five-goal Hissam Ali Hyder stole the show in 7-4 win of Polo De Sufi against Emaar in the 5-10 Goals Polo Cup on Monday.

Hissam was on song from the very outset, scoring two in the first chukker to lead it 2-1. Atif Tiwana struck for the losers.

Hissam pumped in two more in the second chukker to increase the lead 4-2. Shah Shamyl Alam, who struck three goal, fired his first for the losers.

The winners gained 7-4 lead in the eventful third chukker beginning with Hissam’s fifth goal, followed by back-to-back goals by Saqib Khan Khakwani for a comfortable 7-2 lead. In the dying minutes though Shamyl slammed two goals in a row to come from behind (7-4), the fourth chukker was goalless as his efforts to make a match of it went in vain.

In another match, three-goal each by Dhruvapal Godara and Hassan Ali Farrukh guided National Bank to 7- 5 1/2 win against Rangers. Ahmad Ali Tiwana chipped in with a goal.

For the losers, who had 1 1/2 goal handicap, Asif Zahoor scored all four.
