Six die in accident

PESHAWAR, Jan 7: Six people were burnt to death and 10 others got serious burn injuries on Monday when a pick-up caught fire after colliding with a bus near the Gulzar Chowk here.

According to witnesses, as the pick-up caught fire immediately the passengers could not be saved.

The bus was on its way from Karachi to Peshawar, while the pick-up was coming from Laachi to Peshawar.

The charred bodies and the injured were rushed to the Khyber Teaching Hospital.

The bodies were later handed over to relatives.

A police official said most of the victims belonged to one family, and they were on their way to attend a marriage ceremony in Peshawar.

The dead were identified as Naseem Akhtar, Zain, Mohammd Jalal, Zarjana, Saqib and Mohammad Farid.
