QUETTA, Jan 5: A security man was killed and two others suffered serious injuries in an ambush at Spiny Road on Saturday evening.
According to police, three Frontier Corps personnel in plainclothes were passing through the road when unknown armed motorists opened fire on them with automatic weapons and escaped.
Lance Naik Mohammad Arif died on the spot and Azam Khan and Qasir suffered multiple bullet wounds.
Police and FC personnel rushed to the site and shifted the injured to a hospital.
Meanwhile, unknown people blew up a 32KV transmission line in Kohlu district’s Mawind area on Saturday and disrupted power supply to the tehsil. A tube well was also blown up in Dera Bugti tehsil’s Pash-Bogi area.
A spokesman for the banned Baloch Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the three incidents. He told newsmen by satellite phone from an unknown place that militants had also attacked a security forces’ base camp in Kahan tehsil’s Sihageri area and inflicted heavy losses on them.
