Aurakzai’s resignation accepted

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, Jan 5: Outgoing governor of the NWFP Ali Mohammad Jan Aurakzai has said that he has resigned for personal reason and of his own volition.

A handout issued here on Saturday quoted Mr Aurakzai as saying: “It was a difficult decision but in tough situation difficult decisions have to be taken.”

The outgoing governor spent a busy day and held farewell meetings with officials, staff of the Fata Secretariat and Fata Development Authority.

He said that he was satisfied that during his more than one-and-a-half years’ tenure as governor, he had tried to work for the welfare of people of the NWFP and Fata.

Mr Aurakzai was appointed governor on May 25, 2006.

APP adds: President Pervez Musharraf on Saturday accepted the resignation of Mr Aurakzai.

Balochistan Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani would replace Mr Aurakzai and will take the oath of the office on Monday, official sources said.
