BONN, Jan 5: The national team may be an embarrassment, but England’s Premier League has been voted the best in the world in a survey.
The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS), which ranked England as only third-best in 2006, placed the country on top for 2007 with 1,171 points ahead of Spain with 1,074 while Italy, last year’s top nation and the home of the Champions League winners AC Milan, was only in third place.
The IFFHS bases its table on club results in national, international and continental tournaments.—AFP
