Protest held against flour crisis

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA, Jan 5: The Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party and Awami National Party on Saturday organised demonstrations in Quetta and Chaman, respectively, against the acute shortage of flour in their areas. Protesters held the government responsible for the wheat crisis in the country.

The PMAP took out a procession from the party’s central secretariat that marched on different roads. The protesters later held a demonstration outside the DCO office.

The ANP’s procession led by Sardar Jailani Khan Achakzai passed through main bazaars of Chaman. The protesters raised slogans against the district administration, Frontier Corps and wheat smugglers. They also organised a demonstration outside the press club.

Speakers at the PMAP’s demonstration said that the provincial government had failed to obtain the wheat quota of Balochistan from the federal government. They also criticised the federal government for the flour crisis in the province.

Speakers at the ANP’s demonstration alleged that the Chaman district administration and some officials of the Frontier Corps were involved in the smuggling of wheat to Afghanistan.
