TOBA TEK SINGH, Jan 4: A Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate for the National Assembly seat NA-93 has accused a tehsil nazim of addressing public meetings in connection with his nephew’s election campaign and announcing grants for development projects.

In a press statement here on Friday, PML-N candidate Mian Junaid Anwaar said he had evidence that Tehsil Nazim Mian Javed Iqbal was addressing public meetings and announcing development funds to influence people in favour of his nephew Mian Kashif Ashfaq, a Pakistan Muslim League-Q candidate in NA-93. He said he would show this evidence to the election commission.

He said he had asked the election commission to take action against sanitary inspector Tariq Alvi and Ashfaq’s supporters who allegedly tore up his publicity boards and banners.

He said Ashfaq, who was still enjoying a Tevta office, presided over a function at a local college on Thursday where British legislator Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar and Tevta secretary inaugurated a computer lab.

On the other hand, Ashfaq said District Nazim Chaudhry Abdul Sattar had violated the affidavit he gave to the district returning officer. He said Sattar was again campaigning for Anwaar, who is his grandson.

POWER: Various Shia organisations held a meeting here at the central Imam Bargah on Friday. They passed a resolution, demanding that the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company halt loadshedding in Muharram. They said terrorists could take advantage of the loadshedding and execute their plans.
