MARDAN, Jan 4: Police baton-charged people taking part in a peaceful procession taken out to protest against prolonged load-shedding of electricity and disruptions in gas supply here on Friday.

The people of Toru, Mayar and nearby villages were marching on the Sheikh Maltoon Town and the procession was led by Nazim of the Toru Union Council Jehanzeb Khan. The police chased the protesters for an hour.

Later, the protesters dispersed, saying that protests would continue until loadshedding was done away with.
