KARACHI: Eight cops suspended

KARACHI, Jan 4: The Sindh police has suspended more than half a dozen police officers for professional negligence in their areas during four days of arson, carnage and vandalism following Benazir Bhutto’s assassination on December 27.

Sources said three DSPs and the station house officers of three different police stations, along with a police post in-charge, came under fire after high-ups found only eight officers most irresponsible when the whole city was virtually taken over by miscreants and vandals for more than three days.

“These three DSPs include SPO Malir Shahjehan Khan, SPO Sakhan Manzoor Wasan and SPO Landhi Ghulam Farid,” said a source citing a notification issued by the IG Sindh. “Similarly, the CCPO issued orders for the suspension of SHO Ibrahim Hayderi Inspector Sarwar Hussain, SHO Shah Latif Inspector Rahim Shah, SHO Korangi Industrial Area Inspector Irshad Inayat and SHO Bin Qasim Inspector Ghaffar Jumani,” the source added.

In line with the CCPO’s order, the source said, a police post in-charge has also been suspended with immediate effect.
