RAWALPINDI, Jan 2: An additional district and sessions judge (ASJ) on Wednesday issued non-bailable arrest warrants of a station house officer (SHO) for not appearing in the court as an official witness in narcotics trade case.

Judge Mohammad Azam Ali had already summoned the SHO through notices but he did not turn up despite receiving the notices.

The judge directed area Sub Divisional Police Officer to arrest the SHO and produce him in the court on January 3 and ordered withholding of his monthly salary.

A drug peddling case was registered against Misari Khan with Kahuta police station on February 2, 2007 but no progress could be made in court because of the non-appearance of the SHO.

The judge took exception to the behaviour of the police official and ordered his arrest.

In another case, ASJ Rana Nisar Ahmed issued non-bailable arrest warrants of eight witnesses including three policemen and one doctor for not turning up in a murder case.

The judge asked police to arrest two SIs Mohammad Azeem Khan and Muhammad Iqbal and head constable Akhtar Nawaz of police station Sadiqabad and Dr Amjad Ali Shah then medical officer at Rawalpindi General Hospital (RGH) and now at District Headquarter Hospital (DHQ) and four civil witnesses and produce them in the court on Thursday.

According to details a murder case against Muhammad Bashir was registered with Sadiqabad police station on June 28, 2006 and the trial could not make progress in the absence of the witnesses.

The judge also directed the SHO to appear in the court and explain why the police officials had not been receiving the court summons and coming to record their statements.

In yet another case ASJ Rana Muhammad Ali directed SHO Civil Lines Police and In-charge chowki Tariqabad to submit their reply in a complaint for not registering a criminal case against a man who gave bogus cheque.

Muhammad Naeem Qureshi a resident of Dehri Husanabad moved the court saying he was given a bogus cheque of Rs 111,000 by Mohammad Fayyaz who borrowed the money on October 1 last and promised to return on December 14. the cheque he gave was bounced as there was no money in the account.
