Mirani blames Musharraf for BB’s murder

By Our Correspondent

SHIKARPUR, Jan 2: Aftab Shaban Mirani, a former defence minister and PPP leader, has held President Pervez Musharraf and the caretaker government responsible for Ms Bhutto’s death as ‘‘they failed to ensure sufficient security’’ to her.

He alleged that they wanted to destabilise the PPP by killing its leader who was enjoying massive support of the masses in all the four provinces. The calculation of the rulers proved wrong, he added.

Talking to journalists here on Tuesday night, Mr Mirani said that though Benazir Bhutto was not physically with us but she would live in the hearts of the people.

He said that the committed workers of Bhutto would foil all the anti-PPP conspiracies as well as the political victimisation carried against the party leaders.

The party leaders and workers were determined to continue the struggle to fulfil the dream of martyred leaders to provide “Roti, Kapra Aur Makaan” as well as the restoration of democracy in the country which is the baseline of the manifesto issued by Ms Bhutto.

Mr Mirani reposed his confidence over the chairmanship of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari approved by the PPP central executive committee in accordance with the will of Ms Bhutto.
