Subway triumph

LAHORE, Jan 1: Two goals each by Ahmad Zubair, Agha Murtaza Ali and Hashim Kamal Agha helped Subway beat Polo De Sufi 7-4 1/2 in the 4-8 Goals Polo Cup on Tuesday.

Ahmed drew the first blood in the first chukker, converting a 40-yard penalty hit while Agha Murtaza earned a field goal off Atif Tiwana’s pass to make it two goals against half goals (handicap of the losers) to lead the first chukker.

Atif and Hashim scored one goal apiece in the second chukker to lead 4- 1 ½ at the second chukker as Hissam Ali Haider struck his first for the losing side.

Hissam banged home two more goals in the third chukker to give raise hopes, but one by Ahmad, his second, helped Subway to come out with a consolidated lead of 5- 3 1/2.

Hashim and Agha Murtaza scored their second goals in the fourth chukker for the winners, while Hissam scored his third for the losers.—Sports Reporter
