PESHAWAR, Dec 31: During 2007, drug traffickers concentrated on smuggling of hashish in the NWFP. In Peshawar district alone, police seized 5,000kg of the drug in the year under review.

According to a report, some 1,353 criminals were arrested who were allegedly involved in murder, attempted murder, kidnapping for ransom and in terrorist activities. It was stated that 92kg of heroin, 495 Kalashnikovs, 288 rifles, 530 shot-guns, 3,970 pistols, 59 hand-grenades, 75 sticks of dynamite had also been recovered.
