Border situation discussed


ISLAMABAD, Dec 31: The Tripartite Commission, comprising senior military representatives from Pakistan, Afghanistan and NATO’s International Sec-urity Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan, held its twenty-second plenary meeting on Monday.

According to a press release issued by the ISPR here, the respective delegations were led by General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, the Chief of Army Staff, Pakistan Army; General Bismullah Khan, the Chief of General Staff, Afghan National Army; and General Dan Mcneill, Commander ISAF.

Matters of professional interest with particular reference to border security situation on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border were discussed at the meeting.

The participants reviewed progress of the Border Security Sub Committee, Military Intelligence Sharing Working group and Counter Improvised Explosive Device group, working under the Tripartite Commission, and expressed satisfaction over the progress made so far.—Reporter
