LAKKI MARWAT, Dec 31: The Serai Naurang and Tajori police arrested four alleged outlaws and seized weapons from their possession, officials said on Monday.

District Police Officer (DPO) Rommel Akram had directed the station house officers of all the police stations to launch a crackdown on anti-social elements and absconders as part of measures to ensure peace during the forthcoming general election, an official said. The police assisted by personnel of the Frontier Constabulary raided the hideouts of criminals in different localities and apprehended four absconders, including Rashid Ali Shah, Anwar Badshah, Gulo Khan and Muslim Jan. They were wanted in attempt to murder, theft and other cases.

The Darra Pezu police station also arrested 11 gamblers during a raid in Tabbi Murad village, an official said.

Acting on a tip-off, a police party led by SHO Ismail Khan raided a den in Tabbi Murad and arrested seven gamblers. The police also recovered the money on stake and the gambling paraphernalia.

The detained men were identified as Nisar Khan, Zakam Khan, Rahimullah, Mumtaz, Shafiullah, Ismatullah, Saifur Rehman, Waris Khan, Mir Shah Jehan, Ziaur Rehman and Wahidullah.

A case was registered against them.
