NAWABSHAH, Dec 31: A meeting to review overall law and order situation was held at Darbar Hall here on Monday. It was presided over by district nazim Faryal Talpur.

Commandant Indus Rangers, Colonel Maqsood Ali Aamir, District Coordination Officer Abdul Razzaq Qureshi, District naib nazim Abdul Haq Jamali, Abdul Rauf Khan, Khurram Yar Brohi, Jam Iftikhar Unnar, taluka nazim Nawabshah, Daur and Doulatpur respectively, former MPA Ghulam Qadir Chandio and Ziaul Hassan Lanjar of PPP, Abdul Rasheed Arain, Mohammed Mureed Brohi of MQM and Syed G.M.Shah and Syed Junaid Shah of PML-Q and other police officials attended the meeting.

It was decided that a joint committee of all major political parties would visit the city on Tuesday, meet the business community as well as citizens and assure them full protection.

Committees at district and taluka level would assess the losses of the damage occurred to the government and private properties. Peace committee at district and taluka level would also meet people and assure them safety and security.

It was also decided that at least 15 permanent police pickets would be established in the city as well as the patrolling of rangers would be enhanced. The district nazim also suggested use of FM radio service and cable network to immediately quash rumours which spread harassment among the people.

The meeting also decided to make announcements through mosques asking the citizens to avoid firing on the eve of New Year.

Quran Khwani: Quran Khwani would be held at Zardari House here on Tuesday for the departed soul of Benazir Bhutto. Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho and district nazim Faryal Talpur, sisters of Asif Ali Zardari would also receive the condolences from people of Nawabshah.

Shot dead: A person Ayoub Dinari 40 was shot dead by unidentified persons over matrimonial dispute in Jalal Pir village near Daur, on Monday. Murderers managed to escape. No FIR was lodged till the filing of this report.

Namaz-i-JANAZA: Members of the Nawabshah Press Club offered Ghaibana Nimaz-i-Janaza of Benazir Bhutto, on Monday. They demanded an independent and international probe into the incident.

A general body meeting of press club was held and presided over by Mohammed Anwar Shaikh. Members of the club strongly condemned her assassination.

They termed it a conspiracy against the democracy and solidarity and said twice elected prime minister of Pakistan was assassinated which showed security lapse.

They said it was a national and irreparable loss as the nation has lost leader of international repute.
