THATTA, Dec 30: An FIR has been registered against eight police personnel of Thatta sub-jail for negligence that resulted in escape of 25 under-trial prisoners late on Friday.
The complainant, Mohammad Iqbal Jokhio, jailer of the sub-jail complained in his FIR that a mob raising slogans against the assassination of Benazir Bhutto attacked the sub-jail, set ablaze the adjacent taluka mukhtiarkar office, broke the sub-jail lock-ups and let escape the prisoners.
Head-constable Mustafa Butt, Noor Hassan and constable Haibat Khan and others were nominated in the FIR.
