Wasim fancies coaching role

Published December 30, 2007

LONDON, Dec 29: Pakistan legend Wasim Akram would love to return to English cricket county Hampshire one day — as a bowling coach.

Wasim, who had a short, injury-hit spell at Hampshire in 2003, admits he’s a coaching novice.

But his experience is impossible to criticise. He remains top of charts for most One-day International wickets in history with 502 – 47 more than next best, Muttiah Muralitharan.

With 414 Test wickets, Wasim is also ninth in list of highest Test wicket takers.

“I would like to coach a county team like Hampshire one day,” he said.—Agencies
