Protesters attack police station : Markets closed in Dir

UPPER DIR, Dec 29: Outraged youths on Saturday attacked a police station with stones, smashing windowpanes and pulling down its signboards in protest against the assassin-
ation of PPP leader Benazir Bhutto.
The PPP workers took out a rally and chanted slogans “Ya Allah Ya Rasool Benazir Beqasur; Hum Buhut Sharminda Hain, Aap Ke Qatil Zinda Hain and Zinda Hay Bhutto Zinda Hay”.
They marched to the Dir Stadium where ghaibana namaz-i-janaza was offered.
Rejecting the government’s claim that Baitullah Mehsud was behind the assassination of the party chairperson, the PPP leaders held the army, establishment and chaudhrys of Gujrat responsible for her murder.
During the day, all markets remained closed and traffic remained off the road.
A protest demonstration was also held in the Wari area.
