LAHORE, Dec 28: Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Justice Ijaz Nisar (retired) on Friday announced that Rs300,000 would be given to heirs of victims who lost their lives in the Rawalpindi blast and Rs100,000 for the injured.
Talking to reporters after the Punjab cabinet meeting, the chief minister said that free of cost treatment would be provided to the injured.
Condemning the brutal incident, he said that orders had been issued to hold inquiry into the incident by a high court judge. He said that an investigation team formed under an Additional IGP would submit its report within a week.
The chief minister said that all government departments and educational institutions would remain closed for three days.
Meanwhile, the Punjab cabinet met here under the chairmanship of the caretaker chief minister and expressed profound grief and sorrow over the assassination of Benazir Bhutto.
