Qazi rejects APC plan

By Our Staff Reporter

LAHORE, Dec 28: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal chief Qazi Hussain Ahmad has rejected government’s plan to call an all-party conference and said that an APC should be convened by the opposition.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, he warned of a countrywide movement if the demands put up jointly by the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy and the MMA two years ago were not met.

He did not give any timeframe for acceptance of the demands which included immediate resignation of President Pervez Musharraf, restoration of the Constitution as it was on Oct 12, 1999, and reconstitution of the Election Commission.

No one, he said, should attend the APC being convened by a person who himself was the root cause of the problem.

Qazi Hussain, who is also the chief of Jamaat-i-Islami, said that the JI would contact all opposition parties for the proposed APC.
