Benazir’s killing widely condemned

ISLAMABAD, Dec 27: Scores of prominent lawyers, political leaders and federal ministers strongly condemned the assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto and expressed sympathy with her party workers and family members.

Senior lawyer Fakharuddin G Ibrahim has said that he has no words to express his grief over the tragic murder of the former prime minister in a terrorist attack in Rawalpindi and wondered where the country was heading.

“What future we are going to face, I have no idea,” he remarked.

Advocate Tariq Mehmood, the former President Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) who is still under house arrest since November 3 declared December 27 as the most unfortunate day for Pakistan and a great national tragedy.

Former vice president SCBA Muhammad Ikram Chaudhry condemned in strongest possible terms the terrorist attack that resulted into the tragic death of the former prime minister and alleged that PML-Q and intelligence agencies were behind the act.

He asked the legal community to launch a fresh campaign to get the country rid of the present rulers who had landed the country at a such a mess that the lives of no body was saved now.

Meanwhile, Advocate Naseer Ahmad Chaudhry said this was a very tragic incident and would have grave repercussion on the future politics of the country. In days to come we have to contend with this tragedy and grief, he said and expressed the hope that the people would keep up her ideals of peace, for the democratic society and the well being and prosperity of the common man.

This is the big challenge for the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to keep itself composed in this moment of grief, he said and expressed his heartfelt condolences with Begum Nusrat Bhutto, her husband Asif Ali Zardari, her children, her family and the people of Pakistan.

TNFJ: Leader Tehreek Nafaz Fiqh-i-Jafaria (TNFJ) Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi has said that the assassination of Benazir Bhutto was the murder of democracy in Pakistan.

“Her tragic death is a big shock for democracy,” he said in a statement while giving his reaction on the suicide attack at Liaquat Bagh.

Mr Moosavi said that every member of the (TNFJ) shared the grief of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

He expressed his heartfelt condolences with the bereaved families of the blast victims.
