Kurd detained again

By Saleem Shahid

QUETTA, Dec 26: The Balochistan government on Wednesday detained former vice-chairman of the Pakistan Bar Council, Ali Ahmed Kurd, for another 30 days in his house and declared it a sub-jail.

Mr Kurd was arrested on November 3 in Islamabad after imposition of the state of emergency. He was later shifted to Quetta and detained in his house.

The provincial government had released him on Dec 20 for three days to celebrate Eidul Azha.

On Wednesday, he was served another detention order issued by the provincial home department.

Earlier in the day, Mr Kurd told reporters that lawyers and the civil society would continue their struggle for reinstatement of the deposed judges and restoration of an independent judiciary.
