HYDERABAD, Dec 26: The director, Centre of Excellence in Arts and Design (CEAD), Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Jamshoro, announced on Wednesday that the interviews of candidates for admission in bachelor of fine arts, design and architecture 2008, in the centre of excellence in arts and design MUET Jamshoro will be held on December 28-29.

The director had advised all the candidates from Punjab, Balochistan, NWFP, Azad Kashmir, Fata and Northern Areas, who had passed pre-entry tests, to appear before the admission committee on Dec 28 at 9am sharp, whereas the top 80 scorers from Sindh province had been advised to appear for interview on Dec 29 at CEAD Jamshoro along with their original documents.

Interviews for self-finance scheme will be held on Jan 5, at the same venue. Candidates interested in self-finance schemes have been advised to bring a demand draft of Rs175,000 in favour of director CEAD Jamshoro, at the time of interview.

DEGREE AWARDS: The University of Sindh approved to award MPhil and PhD degrees to eight candidates in different disciplines of Faculties of Commerce and Business Administration, Islamic Studies and Natural Sciences.

The approval was accorded at the 99th meeting of Advanced Studies and Research Board of the University on Wednesday.

Vice Chancellor Sindh University, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui presided while pro-vice chancellor Dr Rafia Ahmed Shaikh, deans of faculties, heads and senior professors of different institutes and departments attended the meeting.

The meeting in the light of evaluation reports given by examiners, approved to award five PhD and three MPhil degrees to research scholars.

Meeting approved to award PhD degrees to three research scholars viz; Shahid Iqbal Rajput, Hassan Imran Afridi and Ms Humera Khan Pathan in Analytical Chemistry discipline.

The meeting also approved to award PhD in Statistics to Mohammad Ilyas Rajput and in Zoology to Miss Riffat Sultana.

The meeting approved to award MPhil degrees to Mohammad Munir Ahmedani in Commerce, Anwar Ali Shah in Islamic Culture and Subhan Ali Majidano in Chemistry.
