MIRPURKHAS, Dec 26: Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister, Justice (retd) Abdul Qadir Halepoto, has said that according to promise of President Pervez Musharraf assemblies had completed their tenure and under his directives general election would be held free, fair, impartial, judicious and in transparent manner. He was speaking at a gathering of candidates and notables at Umerkot circuit house on Wednesday.
Former speaker Sindh Assembly Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah, district nazim of Umerkot Faqeer Manghan Mangrio, district nazim Badin Ali Anwar Halepoto and DIG Mirpurkhas Mazhar Shaikh were also present.
He further said that the aims of caretaker government was to hold the forthcoming general elections in a free, fair, impartial and transparent manner and added that general elections of Jan 8 would be exemplary.
He clarified that government was no party and said that the president had categorically stated that any party which would emerged victorious in the election would be invited to form the government. He advised the candidates that if they had any complaint, they should furnish the same to the election commission.
He added that additional police personnel would be deployed at sensitive polling stations and said that administration was directed to maintain law and order during the election and take strict security arrangements so that a maximum number of voters could exercise their right of franchise.
The chief minister advised the people that they should caste their votes in favour of honest, sincere and intelligent candidates who could resolve their grievances.
Caretaker chief minister said that directives had been issued to health department to ensure availability of emergency medicines including Hepatitis, ASV and ARV in government hospitals particularly in basic health units. He said directives had been issued to make arrangements for test of dengue virus test at hospitals of small towns and cities.
He announced to construction of district prison Umerkot and electrification of 50 villages of the district.
Earlier, the district nazim of Umerkot Faqeer Manghan Mangrio presented the problems of the district. Later the caretaker Sindh chief minister also visited village Haji Mohammad Hashim Halepota and announced construction of Pucca road for the village, construction of a bridge at the canal, water supply scheme, girls school and upgradation of basic health unit as rural health centre.
