Militant base blown up

By Our Correspondent

MINGORA, Dec 25: Security forces on Tuesday blew up the hujra (living quarters) of Mahmood Khan, an associate of Maulana Fazlullah, in Hazara village of Kabal tehsil.

The government’s media centre alleged that the building was being used as a centre for planning terrorist activities. It claimed that the house and a seminary run by Mahmood had been left untouched on “humanitarian grounds”.

The forces also claimed arresting Alam Khan, another associate of Maulana Fazlullah, near the Fizzagut checkpoint. He was being interrogated, the media centre said.

The law enforcement agencies also defused an explosive device planted along the roadside at Kot village, in Charbag area.

BODY FOUND: A beheaded body was found in a field at Kabal. Officials denied the body was that of any of the soldiers who have gone missing since the launch of an operation in Swat.
