Published December 25, 2007

MIRPURKHAS, Dec 24: The passengers of New Pakistan Coach Service have complained of being forced to pay more than the fixed fare.

Noor Nabi Chandio, Sajjad Rind, Mohammad Ahmed, Maqbool Baloch, Akbar Khan and others said they travelled by coach#JB-1165, a newly-introduced service and reached Mirpurkhas from Karachi, on Monday.

They told reporters that around 37 passengers travelled in the coach while the cleaner forcibly took Rs200 per passenger instead of Rs170.

The cleaner and the driver misbehaved with passengers when they asked him to show notification of transport authority for increasing fare, they said and added the two even threatened them with dire consequences. Passengers also complained to the Highway Police of the excessive fare.

They urged the Secretary Transport to take notice of the matter.
