Pirzada to brief Chinese leaders on situation in Pakistan

LAHORE, Dec 23: President’s Adviser Syed Sharifuddin Pirzada and Attorney-General Malik Muhammad Qayyum will brief the Chinese president, the minister for law and the attorney-general on the situation which led to the imposition of emergency rule on Nov 3 and events which followed.

Mr Pirzada left for Beijing on Sunday while Malik Qayyum is scheduled to leave on Monday.They will stay in Beijing for three days.

Mr Qayyum told Dawn on Sunday that Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan had met him three times to discuss the situation in Pakistan.

The envoy, he said, had told him that China was concerned about the situation in Pakistan because of the special relations between the two countries.
