Sherpao says he has no fear of blasts

By Our Reporter

PESHAWAR, Dec 23: Chief of the Pakistan People’s Party-S Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao on Sunday vowed to continue to serve the people and said that terrorist attacks like the one taking place on Friday could not harass him.

Addressing a press conference here at his residence, Aftab Sherpao said: “This was the second attempt on my life in the past year. My enemies do not want me to serve the people,” he said.

Criticising the lack of progress in investigations on the previous attempt on his life, he recalled the killing of his elder brother Hayat Mohammad Khan Sherpao in the 1970s and said that his family had suffered because of acts of terrorism before and he could not be harassed.

Terming the killing of innocent people un-Islamic, unethical, immoral and against all traditions, he said that despite incidents of terrorism, his party’s candidates would continue to run their election campaigns.

He said his own son was still in the intensive care unit.

He said that as an interior minister, he had nothing to do with the affairs of tribal areas. He, however, avoided commenting on the security arrangements made by the provincial government on Eid day.
