MIRPURKHAS, Dec 23: The district government of Mirpurkhas has failed to ensure sale of flour at fixed price of Rs 16 per kilogram in the city.
Reports said that the owners of flour mills and chakkis were not implementing the instructions of the district government. During Eidul Azha people experienced hardship as they did not get flour at the government fixed price and purchased it for Rs 20 per kilogram. There was also shortage of flour at the utility stores.
In order to ease off pressure from the DCO, the mill owners jointly set up fair price shops of flour at Jarwari Shakh chowk, Chandni Chowk and Khaan Naka from Dec 17 to 19 where the commodity was available at Rs 16 per kilogram, but that was not sufficient enough to fulfil flour requirement of the city.
The government officials were also avoiding to check record of flour mills and their stocks due to reasons best known to them, sources said.
