Candidate’s father shot dead

KHAR, Dec 20: A pro-government tribal elder was killed near Khar on Wednesday.

Family sources said that Malik Alif Mohammad, a member of the grand jirga, was going to his home in Kamangara from the Nawagi bazaar, some 30 kilometres southwest of Khar, when masked men on motorcycles, opened fire on him.

The elder died on the spot and the attackers escaped.

The deceased’s son, Hayat Mohammad, is contesting elections for the NA-43, Bajaur Agency, seat.
