LONDON, Dec 19: Three British residents detained in the US prison camp at Guantanamo Bay were released and due back in Britain on Wednesday, the Foreign Office and police said.

Jamil El Banna, Omar Deghayes and Abdennour Sameur, all former British residents held for over four years in the Cuba detention centre, were due to arrive back in the country “imminently”, a Foreign Office spokesman said.

“Three men who were detained at Guantanamo Bay by the US authorities are en route to the UK and will arrive later today,” added a statement by Scotland Yard.—AFP
