Malik advised to take rest

By Our Sports Reporter

LAHORE, Dec 19: Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik has been advised another week’s rest for his injured ankle before any decisions on allowing him to play cricket can be made.

Shoaib, who tore two ligaments in his ankle before the second Test against India earlier this month, received the MRI report on the injury on Wednesday, suggesting that the plaster be kept on for yet another week.

Speaking to Dawn, Shoaib said that even though he was not in severe pain, the MRI suggested that the ankle had not healed completely.

Therefore, he would be taking more rest with the hope of reaching fitness before next month’s home series against Zimbabwe.
