SANGHAR: Man shot dead in police custody

SANGHAR, Dec 19: A man in police custody was shot dead and a policeman injured on the premises of the district court here on Wednesday.

Ali Sher alias Naghi, son of Sultan Khan, was brought by the jail police for hearing of a case.

He was arrested in the Arms Act case and was brought to the court where he was shot dead by two assailants in the presence of more than 50 policemen.

The assailants came on a motorcycle and fired at him with TT pistol.

The body was sent for autopsy while the injured policeman Bijar Khan Zardari was shifted to hospital.

According to reports, the brother of Ali Sher, Mumtaz Pathan, had abducted a girl, Shazia, on Oct 27, 2007.

The Sanghar police produced the couple in the court of a judicial magistrate and civil judge Sanghar where the girl stated that she had been married to Mumtaz and was not kidnapped.

The court allowed her to go with her husband. After that the couple shifted to some unknown location.

In the meantime, the Sanghar police registered a 13-D (Arms Act) case against the brother of Mumtaz.
