TCP floats two tenders for sugar purchase

KARACHI, DEC 19: The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP), on Wednesday floated two tenders of 25,000 metric tons each for sale of refined imported sugar stocked in its godowns.

A TCP official said tenders will be opened on December 24 and 27, respectively.

He said the TCP was buying sugar from local mills on the instructions of federal government to support local industry reeling under financial crisis.

The Economic Coordination Committee had asked the TCP to procure 500,000 tons of sugar from local mills to help sugar industry.

He said the TCP earlier floated several tenders for purchase of about 150,000 metric tons sugar from local mills in phases.

He said the TCP had also maintained sufficient stock in case of shortage and also to supply to the Utility Stores Corporation.—APP
