MINGORA, Dec 18: Security forces have arrested two suspected militants, believed to be close associates of Maulana Fazlullah, at the Bariam checkpoint and seized a vehicle loaded with explosives and suicide jackets in Bandai village near Khwazakhela.

An official statement issued on Tuesday said the administration had distributed warm clothes, 1,000 blankets and 500 food packets in Kalam among people affected by recent events. Another consignment of relief goods will be distributed on Wednesday.

The statement said that Swat valley was now peaceful, with schools and offices having reopened and people carrying on with their daily routine.

(ICRC) said on Tuesday it had donated blankets and soap for 300 displaced families in Swat.

The ICRC said in a press release that relief goods were distributed in Udigram, Tindodag and Qambar villages.
