KARACHI, Dec 16: With the completion of development projects meant for the villages falling in the limits of Karachi, the oldest settlements of the city would have a solid civic infrastructure and their residents would start getting all basic amenities.

This was stated by City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal while talking to newsmen after laying the foundation stone of the road linking Hawkesbay and Mubarak Village and connecting the village with Hub River Road.

About 90 per cent work on this 48-km-long road being built at a cost of Rs155 million has been completed and the remaining work is expected to be completed within a week.

As many as 34 old villages fall along the under-construction road but the inhabitants of these villages lacked even basic amenities. The city nazim has ordered provision of water and electricity to the villages. The KESC has started work for the electrification and the villages would hopefully be energised in two-three months.—APP
