DBA rejects amendments in Constitution

GUJRANWALA, Dec 15: The district bar association on Saturday rejected fresh amendments to the Constitution and pledged to continue their movement till the restoration of independent judiciary.

The amendments provided for establishment of a federal high court and reduction in age limit for appointment of judges.

At a meeting held here on Saturday with bar president Ilyas Rehan in the chair, the participants said Musharraf got himself elected as president illegally through the assemblies for another five-year term which was unconstitutional.

They said lawyers would continue their movement till the ouster of President Musharraf and termed all fresh amendments illegal and unconstitutional.—Correspondent
