LAKKI MARWAT, Dec 14: A constable was injured when some miscreants fired rockets on a police post in Kot Kashmir area of the Tajori police on Thursday night.

Sources said that five to six rockets were fired on the checkpost but one of them hit the target, injuring constable Merajud Din.

“Several explosions were heard at midnight creating panic among people as they came out of their homes and started aerial firing,” a resident of the area said. He said police personnel at the checkpoint also fired bullets in retaliation.

“Four constables, including sentry Abdul Razzaq and the injured constable were asleep when the rocket landed,” said the sources.

The Tajori police registered a case against unknown miscreants and started investigation into the matter.

The incident took place a day after police arrested six people from Shah Tora Takhtikhel and Tarkha Bazikhel at the check post. The district police convened a meeting of elders and notables of the area scheduled to be held at Serai Gambila on Saturday.

The meeting will discuss law and order situation in the area.
