PESHAWAR, Dec 14: Speakers at a public dialogue here on Friday called upon the government to abolish the Frontier Crimes Regulations (FCR), saying the black law was responsible for all ills in Fata.
The dialogue titled as “FCR, Issues and Solutions” was held at the office of community appraisal and motivation programme.
About 30 educationists, media persons, health experts and representatives of NGOs from Bajuar, Mohmand and Khyber agencies attended the programme.
The speakers, Naveed Ahmed Shinwari, Asghar Ali Khan and Shams Momand said the FCR had laid down negative effects on political, social and economic condition of people.
They recommended that the FCR should be replaced with a new Fata governance system to help solve the problems of people and provide them relief.
They termed the FCR a non-ending legacy of the British rulers which was framed for sustaining administrative control in the region bordering Afghanistan.
A resolution adopted by the participants called for formation of an independent Fata–based commission to frame a new governance system in the light of socio-economic and cultural life of the people.
They spoke about the importance of Fata, saying the people always loved their country and remained loyal to the land.
They also talked about the lack of health, education and communication facilities in the region.
