PML-Q leaders defect to PPP

DADU, Dec 13: The senior vice-president of the Jamshoro chapter of Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid), Pir Khurshid Ahmed, with a large number of party activists and supporters, joined Pakistan People’s Party on Thursday at the residence of PPP leader Syed Murad Ali Shah in Wahur village Sehwan.

Pir Khurshid, custodian of Dargah Wehar Sharif and local PML leaders who defected to PPP including Pir Shafique Ahmed, Ghulam Hussain Lashari, Ghulam Rasool Dayo, Najam Sehto, Syed Bachal Shah, Haji Haroon, Hayat Jalbani, Wadero Abdul Jalil Rahpoto and Wadero Meenhon Rahpoto said that they would support PPP candidates Syed Murad Ali Shah for PS-73 and Nawab Abdul Ghani Talpur for NA-231.

Talking to journalists, Syed Murad alleged that police were harassing his supporters to force them to support PML candidate Liaquat Ali Jatoi. Despite pre-poll rigging PPP would come out victor with big margin, he claimed.

PAPERS WITHDRAWN: Five PML-F candidates on Thursday withdrew nomination papers and announced they would support PML-Q candidates Liaquat Ali Jatoi, Syed Mohammad Shah, Dr Bandah Ali Leghari, Haji Amir Bux Junejo and Ehsan Ali Jatoi.

They included Nawab Magsi who had filed papers for PS-74, Mumtaz Leghari for PS-75, Syed Mazhar Hussain Rashidi for PS-76, Syed Mujtaba Shah for PS-77 and Rizwan Mangnejo for NA-232.

ALLEGATIONS: PPP candidates for different national and provincial assembly accused PML-Q candidates on Thursday of harassing party workers and voters to force them to support PML-Q candidates.

They accused PML-Q candidates of pre-poll rigging and said that Liaquat Ali Jatoi was getting police protocol during his election campaign while police were conducting raids on the residences of PPP workers.
