Peacekeepers honoured

UNITED NATIONS, Dec 11: The commander of the UN Mission in Liberia (UNMIL), Lt-Gen Chikadibia Isaac Obiakor, has commended Pakistani police officers for ensuring safety and security in Liberia.

Lt-Gen Obiakor made the remarks at a ceremony at which he awarded UN peacekeeping medals to 23 Pakistani UNMIL police officers for their contribution to peace in Liberia, a UN press release said on Tuesday.

As members of the UN

Police, the commander noted: “You provide the necessary support to the Liberian National

Police (LNP) to ensure that it becomes a truly professional police force that strengthens and safeguards democracy in Liberia.”—Correspondent
