Three health workers kidnapped

By Our Correspondent

BANNU, Dec 10: Armed men kidnapped three health department employees on Monday afternoon near Taji Qilla on Bannu-Dera Ismail Khan Road, police said. The employees were on way to Bannu from Lakki Marwat in a vehicle. Vaccinator Nisar Khan, driver Samar Gul and watchman Imtiaz were abducted, while two other employees, including a lady health worker, managed to escape by jumping out of the vehicle.

Police have cordoned off roads from Bannu to the tribal area.

A few days back an NGO official and police sub-inspector were kidnapped from the same location. They were yet to be recovered.

Meanwhile, officials of donor agencies funding the anti-polio campaign in the country have expressed concern over the lack of security in the district.

POST BLOWN UP: An under-construction police checkpoint was blown up in the Mamashkhel area here on Sunday night.

Officials and residents said the explosion destroyed the police post near the Peerdalkhel village on the boundary between the Bannu district and the frontier region.

The police suspected that the militants were involved in the attack.
