JHUDO, Dec 8: Dealers have raised prices of fertiliser to an alarming level in the lower Sindh with the start of wheat sowing season after sugarcane’s harvest. Markets witnessed a surge of 15 per cent in the fertiliser prices during the past one week, growers said adding that the dealers in various towns and villages of the lower Sindh were selling fertiliser at their will.
A DAP fertiliser bag, which was being sold for Rs1,250 a week ago, has shot up to Rs1,350, adding to growers’ problems. The market rates of other branded fertilisers are: Zohrawar Rs1200, Zarkhaiz Rs1050 and SOB Rs1400.
The growers said that additional quantity of fertilisers was required for wheat sowing season and added that the dealers were fleecing them once again as they did in the past.—PPI
