Nawaz rally participants deprived of valuables

ISLAMABAD, Dec 6: Scores of people including mediaperons were deprived of their wallets and cellphones during PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif’s 15-minute visit to the Judges Colony on Thursday.

It was not a big crowd, but the mad rush of some 150 reporters, press photographers and PML-N activists towards Mr Sharif provided an opportunity to the thieves to try their luck.

The incident occurred during 100-metre-long march that ended in seven minutes and eight minutes stay in front of Balochistan House where the PML-N chief delivered a speech. The activists and mediapersons rushed towards Mr Sharif when he appeared near Marriot Hotel. He disembarked from his black colour sports utility vehicle and marched towards Judges Colony along with his party colleagues and mediapersons. A confused struggle of coming closer to Mr Sharif was again witnessed when he started delivering his speech, as photographers wanted to capture him in camera, reporters wanted to listen to him, and activists were trying to make their presence felt. —Munawer Azeem
